UNICEF Consultant for Yellow Fever Outbreak Response, Dr. Sameeh Omoleke visited the Kintampo Health Research Centre to have a discussion with the nomadic study team
The consultant met with the study team to discuss matters relating to the nomadic study, including the extent of data collection, transcription and analysis of the data collected, strategies for dissemination of the study's findings and possible publications.
The nomadic study aims to explore the health seeking behaviour and develop pathways for the uptake of vaccination among nomadic populations in selected districts in the Upper west, Savannah, Bono east and Ashanti region of Ghana. The study was commissioned by UNICEF as part of its response to low yellow fever immunization.
The dissemination of the study's findings is scheduled to commence on October 4, 2022 throughout the various regions where the study was conducted, beginning with the Savannah region. Representatives from the Upper west region are expected to participate in the dissemination exercise.
The dissemination exercise is aimed at developing strategies to improve vaccination coverage among nomadic population. At the national level, the dissemination exercise will take place in Accra from October 19 to October 21, 2022.
The nomadic study team was represented by Dr. Kwaku Poku Asante, Dr. Samuel Afari-Asiedu and Mr. Lawrence Gyabaa Febir.
