Probiotics Study Wraps Up 3-Day Training for Staff

The Kintampo Health Research Centre (KHRC) is conducting a study that seeks to carry out a pilot to evaluate the administration of Probiotic supplementation among pregnant women in their 5th to 6th month to improve their health and that of their unborn children.
As part of the study, staff received a 3-day training on the study protocol which outlined the study design, data collection procedures, consenting process, biological sample collection, capsule distribution, inclusion and exclusion criteria, among others. Staff were also briefed on the conduct of clinical trials and the use of the RedCAP Software in data collection.
The training was led by Dr. John Amoah. Dr. Dennis Adu-Gyasi, Dr. Seyram Kaali, Miss. Irene Azindow, Mr. Elvis Wilson, and Mr. Dennis Konadu also delivered sections of the study protocol.
The KHRC is conducting this study in collaboration with Professor Tobias R. Kollman and Dr. Nelly Amenyogbe (Telethon Kids Institute, Perth Children’s Hospital, University of Western Australia) and Professor Pinaki Panigrahi (Georgetown University).
