The KHDSS is a platform for collecting basic health and demographic data such as migrations, fertility and mortality across the KHRC catchment areas made up of Six (6) districts in the Bono East Region of Ghana.

As part of the visit, the KHDSS and CHESS teams held a discussion around key issues including data management system, process of conducting verbal autopsies (VA) to determine cause-of-death, benefit of the HDSS project to the research communities, establishing good relationship between the HDSS program and communities, among others. The teams also explored opportunities for further collaboration and capacity building opportunities.

The Statistics Sierra Leone team comprised of Jimmy Lamboi (Leader), Sarah Jessica Kamara (Finance Officer), Crispin George (Field Manager) and Andrew B johnny Jnr (Assistant Data Manager).

CHESS is a sub-component of the Harmonizing and Improving Statistics in West Africa (HISWA) Project for Sierra Leone which involves the improvement of administrative and health statistics.
