Dr. Asante seized the opportunity to reiterate the story about the first malaria vaccine (RTS,S) of which KHRC contributed to its development by conducting the phase 2, phase 3 and phase 4 trials. His presentation also highlighted contributions to Ghana Health Services policy initiatives, opportunities gained, some challenges, among others.

He expressed KHRC's appreciation for GSK's support and contribution to KHRC's clinical trial transformation. He stressed the burgeoning need to build both institutional and human capacity, since this will be needed to advance the conduct of both clinical trials as well as epidemiological studies.

As part of the visit, the GSK team will have the opportunity to tour some basic schools as well as some health facilities to have firsthand experience with the educational and health systems of Ghana.
