On Monday, June 10, 2023, officers from the Ghana National Fire Service (Municipal Fire Command-Kintampo) visited the Kintampo Health Research Centre (KHRC) to conduct a one-day fire safety training exercise for the entire staff of the Kintampo Health Research Centre (KHRC). The training aimed at equipping staff with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively respond to fire emergencies.
During the training, staff received instruction on various aspects of fire safety, including proper handling of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), proper use of fire extinguishers and wet sacks to extinguish small fires.
Practical demonstrations were performed by staff, with the assistance of the fire safety team, using fire extinguishers to familiarize themselves with the equipment and its proper usage. Additionally, the officers also demonstrated the proper use of wet sacks to smother flames during initial stages of fire outbreaks.
Staff were made aware of the necessary steps to reach out to the Ghana National Fire Service and the right contact numbers to call during fire emergencies.
The training concluded with an interactive question and answer session, allowing the staff to clarify any doubts and seek further guidance from the fire safety officers.
