Senior Researcher from the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD) visits KHRC.

Dr. David Courtin, a Senior Researcher at the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD), currently invited researcher at the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, paid a visit to Kintampo Health Research Centre (KHRC) to discuss potential collaborations between KHRC and IRD as well as IRD support for research partnerships (South-North / South-South research partnerships). Dr. Maëlenn Guerchet, a visiting research collaborator was also present to support these discussions.
Director of KHRC, Dr. Kwaku Poku Asante highlighted research and learning opportunities offered by KHRC for researchers globally as well as KHRC’s key thematic research areas. These thematic areas comprises; Clinical trials and intervention, operational and implementation research, communicable and non-communicable diseases, environmental health, malaria and neglected tropical diseases, health policy and programme evaluation and family health research.
Projects heads also took turns to make presentations on some selected ongoing projects at the centre. The presentations were participatory where Dr. Courtin had the opportunity to ask questions as the presentation went along. Following the presentation by the KHRC team, Dr. Courtin made a presentation which highlighted resources available at IRD as well as the IRD’s research activities in Ghana. After the presentations, members present engaged in discussions of potential areas for collaborations as well as interest in IRD resources.
