A Research Fellow at the Kintampo Health Research Centre has been crowned Abakomahemaa of the Mo Traditional Area.

Nana (Dr) Akua Abrafi Heera Kani (I), known in private life as Dr (Mrs) Ellen Abrafi Boamah Kaali, is a Public Health Research Scientist (Health and Social Psychologist), who has worked with the Kintampo Health Research Centre (KHRC) since 2008. Nana Heera Kani (I) joined KHRC in 2007 as a national service personnel and has risen through the ranks from the position of Assistant Research Officer to a Principal Research Fellow through hard work and personal commitment. Against all odds, Nana Kani showcased her inner drive as an ambitious woman to attain a PhD, but not without the invaluable support from the Director and Management of Kintampo Health Research Centre.
The Kintampo Health Research Centre is proud of Nana Kani’s academic and professional achievements, and joins the Mo Traditional Council to celebrate her as the first young female to obtain a Ph.D. degree in the Mo Traditional area. Her commitment, drive and dedication to attain this height is indeed noteworthy and highly commendable, and serves as an inspiration to young girls in her community.
Nana Kani has been a life-long advocate of girl education and female empowerment. She is dedicated to mentoring young girls in her community to attain high levels of education or obtain professional skills to further their career. Having acquired valuable skills and experience through her academic training and research career, Nana Kani (I) stands ready to perform this role in society to the highest standards.
